This is such a great option. I often waste time clicking around blogs I enjoy to check for a recent post, only to find there is not one. To the right under my picture, is a little form you sign up for that allows you to receive an e-mail when I update my blog. I do this now for several blogs, and it is very convenient. There are no crazy advertisements, etc., and you can just read it like a newsletter.

You should try out Google Reader. You can just subscribe to all of the blogs you read, and then you can scroll through them all on one page. You check them once you've read them. You can look at all new entries on every blog or by individual blog. And you can email to people easily using your gmail address book.
